Between passion & transmission
My name is Léa, I am the founder of Waïloa, and since I was a little girl, I spent hours with my grandmother, marveling at her sewing and knitting her own clothes. Her skill and creative independence deeply inspired me.
Later, I enrolled in a fashion school to study marketing, even though creativity remained a constant in my life. During my master's degree, my final project focused on Waïloa, an idea that originated in 2018. During my oral presentation, a member of the jury encouraged me to turn this dream into reality—a pivotal moment, even though the idea of launching it still seemed unrealistic.
In 2021, I took the plunge by creating my first scrunchies, officially launching Waïloa on June 21, the day of the Fête de la Musique, to resonate with the spirit of freedom of the brand.
Little by little, the fans funded new collections, bringing to life this vision inspired by the mountains and the ocean.
Waïloa, my dream
Waïloa is much more than a brand – it's my dream, one I've built step by step, driven by passion and the desire to do things differently. From the very beginning, my goal has always been clear: to offer clothing that embodies adventure, escape, and respect for the environment. Of course, I dream of one day achieving a 100% French and eco-responsible model. But today, to avoid skyrocketing prices, I'm keeping my feet on the ground, with one goal in mind: to remain accessible, so that Waïloa retains its soul.
With Waïloa, I want to dress men, women, and even children for simple, authentic moments in life. And tomorrow, why not? Outdoor pieces, technical skiwear, swimwear, or even wetsuits could join the collection. There's still a long way to go, but it's a journey I'm eager to embark on.
Every day, I realize how lucky I am to have so much support – from all of you who believe in this adventure, whether near or far. Thank you so much. It's thanks to you that Waïloa is coming to life.
